Nails actively grow and reflect our general state of health. Our fingernails are composed of laminated layers of a protein called keratin, similar to the hair and skin. The nails contain more amino acid than hair and skin, and the lack of it leads to weak nails. So definitely it is a good combination to take Vitamin C and E supplements to strengthen them.
There´s still people like Amy Ling, Founder and CEO of Sundays Studio located in New York City, who realized that there was a huge problem in the nail industry. “The toxic chemicals in nail products can be harmful to both customer and employees. Sundays Studio was born to solve this problem. We offer non-toxic, cruelty-free, vegan nail care products and services, prioritizing the health of our customers and employees”, she said.
The ingredients are a primary concern. Yes, as we read labels on food, we have to read the labels of beauty products too. Avoid Formaldehyde, Toluene, and Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP). We also have to be careful of nail polish removers. Recently, I incorporated a natural product made with soybean and tea tree oil from Karma Naturals. Your nails are going to be very hydrated, so I recommend coloring them the next day.
Kipping hydrated our nails is very important too. I´ve had been applying for years almond oil and coconut oil to my cuticles every night before going to bed, and the results are amazing; in winter time, two to three times a day. Amy also suggested using a hydration base coat and soak the nails with rose water or cucumber water. “ I also really believe in beauty inside out. For instant, adding food like beans to your diet, which are rich in Biotin, can help in case the nail strength”, she added.
Let´s continue to enjoy summer with some of Sundays´s favorites colors: Nº2 Semi- Opaque Pink, Nº31 Soft Eggshell, and Nº48 Muted grey.
